At the Farm – Day One

We met Farmer Ngaire (pronounced Ny-ree) at 8.30am for a quad bike ride to collect the other family of children on the farm.

First we went to see the chickens, we fed them some corn, gave them our vegetable scraps and collected the eggs.

We went to the piglet pen and gave them milk, bread and scraps. We collected milk bottles and headed over the see the lambs. We each had a turn giving the lambs their milk.  This cemented James’ love for “Baa Baas”, he became known by everyone as the boy who loves his sheep.

We went for a drive to the Driving Creek Railway. We bought our ticket and when the whistle blew we sat on our seats in the train. It was a very interesting ride with zig zags and switches.

Three of our family members have been to Paris and to the top of the Eifel Tower and now we’ve all been been to Coromandel in New Zealand to see the Eyefull Tower. The Eyefull Tower was at the top of the Driving Creek Railway track. The owner of the property is a bit of a larrikin and was quite playful with his naming.

In the afternoon we enjoyed one of those simple things in life just give so much pleasure.  We put on our togs and played in the stream.  The water was crystal clear and flowing with mini rapids.  We spent ages playing a game floating sticks and catching them.
