At the Farm – Day Two

At 8.30am we couldn’t hold back two eager farm hands who were ready for the farm jobs and a ride on the quad bike.  We fed the chooks, piglets and bottle fed those cute lambs again. Today we met Daisy the cow. Our job was to round her up from the paddock across the road and get her and her baby calf to the shed for milking. Jennifer, James and Mummy all had a turn to milk Daisy.  We went for a quad bike ride to take our farm friends back to their farm house and got home just as the rain started again. clip_image002

It was a bit of a rainy morning so James and Jennifer played close to our farm house on the rope swings.

In the early afternoon we drove up to the top of the peninsula, Port Jackson and stopped at a pebbly beach. It was funny to see that there was no sand just all rounded pebbles.  We climbed up and sat on the rocks to watch the waves splashing and as James said, “making bubbles” on the rocks.  We saw a star fish and collected shells.  We’ve never managed to find any nice shells at beaches in Australia so this was a real treat.

New Zealand has daylight savings and my how quickly children learn that it’s still day time outside so it must be play time.

When noises erupted from the bedroom we would generally find James hanging out the window he had opened pointing to where the chooks were saying, “Chooks” or pointing in the other direction and saying, “Baa Baas”.  We decided that since we are holidays, there is no school to worry about we would do some family activities of a night time after dinner.  Tonight we decided to have a family movie night. First of all we watched “The Wiggles Santa’s Rockin” with James and then we let Jennifer stay up later with Mummy & Daddy to watch “Santa Paws”.  If you haven’t seen this movie you should, it is fantastic.
